Garment Care

In line with our philosophy of honesty, longevity and craftsmanship, we are committed to creating clothes that will remain as relevant to future generations as they are right now. That means our garments are designed to be timeless pieces which improve with wear & care.

Denim Care

Indigo is a mysterious dye. Unlike other colours which penetrate the fibres, indigo sits on the top causing it to chip off and fade beautifully with age and wear. The rich blue colour you see on our indigo denim is achieved through a rope-dying process that has been used for indigo dyes for centuries.

At King & Tuckfield we love things that stand the test of time and that is why denim and other indigo dyed fabrics are so central to our design philosophy. We want you to wear and love your denim and merinos for years to come, so here's our guide to caring for your denim.

Jeans Care

All King & Tuckfield jeans are created equal, and how often you wash your jeans is really down to personal choice. We love stories so we like to give them a few months good wear to gain some creases and cracks before the first wash. From then on we simply wash when they feel dirty, inside out on a handwash or wool machine cycle, or cold soak in the bath with a wool detergent.

Indigo Garment Care

In general we recommend washing all indigo garments separately, especially for the first 2 or 3 washes. They will definitely lose colour and it will protect the look of your garment if you wash inside out with a mild detergent.

Be careful to check the individual washing instructions as your garment may contain special fibres, such as wool or silk which need specific care.

Merino Care

Merino wool is machine washable, wrinkle resistant, stain resistant, zero itch and zero odour wear after wear. This special, technical technical fibre has the ability to control temperature and humidity, keeping you warm in winter and cool in summer. This means you will be able to wear it longer and more comfortably throughout the year.

Merino is also easy to care for as it can be washed normally and rarely needs ironing. It also has the ability to resist the build-up of unpleasant odours - often all it takes is a little airing before your garment is ready to wear again. This means your garment doesn’t require as much washing and you and your garment stay fresher for longer. Better for the environment too.

To keep your merino looking as fresh as it feels, wash inside out on a cold or wool setting with a mild wool detergent. Never tumble dry. If you iron, keep it cool.

Dye Transfer

Indigo dye may rub off onto the skin or other surfaces, please be mindful and avoid contact with light surfaces especially on the first few wears and before washing.
